Safety, read this first
- Switch off the circuit at the consumer unit before you touch any wiring, and make sure nobody can switch it back on while you work. Never work on the lamp with the power on.
- This lamp is wired directly into the ceiling. In Sweden and Germany that is work for a qualified electrician, not a do it yourself job. Please have it installed by one.
- Check the lamp for transport damage before you install it. If anything is damaged or missing, do not install it, contact us.
- Japanese lamp paper. Keep it dry, do not use in a bathroom or outdoors, and clean only with a dry soft brush.
Part 1 · Open the shade, power off
The shade arrives flat. The paper layers are already fixed to the metal ring, so there is nothing to screw together. Your job is to open them out. Allow about ten minutes and work on a clean, soft surface.
1
Lay the shade flat with the metal ring facing up. Remove the card and any packing from the centre.
2
Lift the top paper layer at its edge and ease it outward and upward. Use your fingers only, never pull hard and never fold the paper.
3
Work your way around the ring, layer by layer, until every sheet is separated and the shade has risen into its cloud shape.
4
Once the lamp is hanging, finish the shape from below, opening or closing individual layers until you like it. No two shades come out identical, that is the design.
Part 2 · Mount the lamp, by a qualified electrician
5
The lamp comes with an E27 holder, the bulb fitted and a 150 cm cable that can be shortened. Set the drop first, then connect live and neutral at the ceiling, one at a time, and wrap each connection with insulating tape.
